Home renovations
A renovation is the chance to fix everything the house has been getting wrong for forty years, all at once, while the walls are open. Done in the right order it costs less than doing it piece by piece, and you only live through the mess once.
What we take on

- Kitchens - the room that decides how the rest of the house gets used
- Bathrooms and ensuites, waterproofed and certified properly
- Laundries, usually the worst room in the house and the cheapest to put right
- Reworking houses that have been added to badly over the years
Older houses in Central Victoria
Weatherboard and solid brick homes around Bendigo and Castlemaine were built for a different climate and a different way of living. Small dark rooms, no insulation, windows facing the wrong way, and a back section that was tacked on at some point by somebody in a hurry. Most of what makes these houses uncomfortable can be fixed in a renovation, and it is far cheaper to do it while the linings are off than to come back later.

The order things happen in
Structure and services first, then the linings, then the finishes. It sounds obvious, but the most expensive renovations we get called into are the ones where somebody tiled before the plumbing was settled, or painted before the roof was fixed.
How pricing works
An indicative range after the first visit, a written scope once the direction is settled, then a fixed-price Master Builders Victoria contract. Variations in writing, before the work happens, never after.
