A master builder in South Melbourne
Anyone can call themselves a builder. Registration and membership are the two things you can actually check, and they are worth understanding before you sign anything with anybody.
What our credentials mean
BOS Construction holds building practitioner registration BPC DB-U 38574, issued by the Building and Plumbing Commission. That registration is what allows us to contract for domestic building work in Victoria and to take out the warranty insurance the law requires on it. We are also a member of Master Builders Victoria, which is where our contracts come from.
Why the contract matters more than the quote
A quote is a number. A contract is what you actually have if something goes wrong. We use Master Builders Victoria contracts on every job, with the scope written out, the price fixed, the progress payments tied to stages, and variations in writing before the work happens. If a builder is reluctant to put any of that on paper, that tells you something.
What you get on a BOS job
- One registered builder responsible for the whole job, not a coordinator
- A written scope and a fixed price before anything starts
- Progress payments tied to real stages of work
- The same person on the phone from the first visit to handover
Where we work in Port Phillip
