Most people come to us because the house works everywhere except one place. The kitchen is cut off from the yard. There is nowhere for a second bathroom. The kids have outgrown the back bedroom. An extension is usually the cheaper answer than moving, and always the less disruptive one.

Getting the join right
The part of an extension people notice for the next twenty years is where the new work meets the old. Roof lines that don't quite line up. Brickwork a shade off. A floor level with a step in it for no reason. Matching a 1960s cream brick or a Central Victorian weatherboard takes sourcing and patience, and it is worth the time it costs. It is also the moment to fix what the original house got wrong. Blocks around Bendigo and Castlemaine often have good northern light that the existing house turns its back on. An extension is your one chance to face the right way, and to get insulation, glazing and shading done properly while the walls are open.
